About part 5 of Act 1, Story 1: In the end, I only changed one thing: Bickle's speech toward the beginning. Didn't take anything out of it -- just added a few lines to it as an acknowledegment to the events of Sept. 11 that occurred as my ill-fated war fanfic was being posted. Bickle speaks, of course, of the opening surprise attack (and more or less incidental "Pearl Harbor" parody) of the "Episode 1" fanfic -- it was not my intention to dishonor the memories of those lost in real life this year and my apologies to anyone who sees it that way.
Unlike the Southcentral battle of "Episode 1," I don't exactly take a serious, harrowing bent to this one in "Episode 2." It's less "Saving Private Ryan" or even "Braveheart" (the more direct spoof this time) than "Night of the Living Dead" or "Ghosts of Mars": "ooooooh, let's see how many cool ways I can kill off characters. So though the similar scene from "1" might not be your type of reading at this moment, the one from "2" is more tongue-in-cheek and joking than anything else, so I really don't think it's that much of a problem.
And it should be obvious when you get to the ending this is the last part of Act 1. Most of those characters listed as starring in Story 1 that haven't appeared by that point will be in the government-related wrap-up scenes, not the battle scenes, to be posted tomorrow or Friday. Then that will conclude Story 1. (Screwtape, you're in Act 1, though, as I said earlier, I forgot to list you there.)
And in the event Parca actually does read it: Yes, I wrote that scene as is before you made your post two weeks ago, but I went back and added the two lines that followed it because of your post. ;)
