Shortly before he was assassinated, Anwar Sadat and Yassir Arafat were having a conversation about the newfangled microwave oven (Solid State) that the Egyptian ruler had recently installed.
Sadat mentioned that he liked the convenience of the new device, although he did warn the PLO leader about some drawbacks. "You just have to make sure you remember it's not a regular oven! Just the other day, I put a burrito in there for twenty minutes, and the damn thing exploded! God willing, such a disaster should never befall you, Yassir."
Arafat, who at that time had never been to a mexican restaurant, mistranslated "burrito" as little burro, which inspired an insurgency campaign protested by the likes of PETA. Unfortunately, Sadat was assassinated before he could clarify his remarks.
