09/05/02: Boy that's Iffy.

You were close to 50% yes and no. I think you had 46 yesses. Not a clear majority so I really can't be too sure! I have to say that you seemed way too together to be ADD (especially compared to the majority around *here*, ahem). It was just a few things caught my attention and made me wonder, and I am hypervigilant on that issue since I went sooo many years undiagnosed. I'm sure you're right that your sister is the more likely suspect. You've done so much and know so much for 24, it's hard for me to believe you're that young. The possibility that you could be even sharper on medication was, frankly, frightening to me.

My sister and I both got scores in the 70's, so that's clearly definitive. Mine was 77. And there were a few questions I got stuck on no matter how many times I read them. Like the one...lingering over conversations. I never knew what the heck was meant by that, until I was reading your post and remembered that's exactly what my *dad* always does and it's excruciating.

I've worked very consciously on "reading a book clear through." In my teens and early twenties I could (almost) never read an entire book and I was ashamed of myself since I read obsessively as a kid. So I made the effort to force myself through books whether I spaced out continually and couldn't remember long passages or not. I always got *something* out of it, and something was more than nothing, I told myself. Now I read and read, way too much.

You're right that Adderall can cause a terrible depression. Since I'm prone to depression anyway I didn't need that. But it's easily enough fixed with anti-depressants. There is a buzzy feeling too, when first starting at least, but I didn't notice it so much later on. Your experience with it compared to other drugs sure gives me pause though.

I figured I'd post this quiz in the new forums tomorrow. There are plenty of poll-happy space cadets out there to find. :)
