Yeah, I figured I would test that way (50-50). I'm not very easy to pigeonhole. :) Just a bundle of contradictions.
I lack motivation, though, and I've *always* been a procrastinator. Stimulants help me out with that. I prefer the milder caffeine and ephedrine, though - stuff like amphetamines (Adderall) and cocaine have too many nasty side effects (paranoia, depression, anger).
As for not being able to finish books, *sometimes* I do that. I'm just all over the place. I'll be reading like 18 books at once, and finish a few of them.
About the depression: Yes, Adderall gives me worse depression than anything else I've ever taken, including cocaine and Ecstasy. There's all kinds of media scares about how people kill themselves the weekend after taking Ecstasy. It never made me very depressed. In fact, I always felt really good after rolling. I use it *very* infrequently now, though, 'cause I think it's a bit too hard on the brain.
As for alleviating depression, I don't really want to be strung out on amphetamines (Adderall) only to balance it with an anti-depressant. I know I would feel miserable and be teetering on the edge of psychosis. I suppose I prefer more natural solutions. And although I realize they don't work for everyone, they do just fine for me.
I find that two things usually keep me the most balanced:
1.) Exercise. Dance/aerobic-type activity to techno music. I cannot tell you how much this has worked wonders for me. It is my favorite drug. I'm not sure what I would do without it.
2.) Meditation. Helps keep me balanced, less moody, more confident - and it's improved my posture. I can't recommend it enough.
TCP :)
