Two movies I saw whan I was young that tried to give an impression of NY were" Popi" with Alan Arkin about a father who tries to pass his two kids off as cuban refugees, and "Law and Disorder" with Carrol O'Connor and Ernest Borgnine about buddies who form a civilian police force. They weren't oscar candidates but they did make me want to go to the "Big Apple". I had a blacklight poster of the Manhatten Skyline in my room as a kid.
