Nice joke..
I personally hate when the composer is trying to make you feel something special in the movie. The true test should be to watch the scene again with the mute button and see if it affect you.
Or maybe I'm just so desensitized. I don't know. My own family was fairly disfunctional. When it was time for us to move out, it flew apart faster than a chicken in a particle accelerator. We still keep in touch often, but living together for eighteen years before college was draining. Familiarity does breed contempt, sometimes.
