Anyone who bags this movie because of the dull footage and lack sets should put us all out our misery and just go blind. This film, despite it's budget constraints, succeeds marvelously in creating an edgey atmosphere and avoids dropping obvious hints with style. Of-course, we all know from the beginning that our leading pair are not going to make it home. But with all the rumours surrounding the Lonnergans (real life inspiration for the movie) we really don't whether they will die of if we'll still be left wondering. If you are a little hesitant about the digital footage, think back to some of the best horror flicks. Halloween, Friday The 13th, The Blair Witch Project, The Others, even Psycho - they were all shot on a shoestring budget and they are among the best. Forget the criticisms, Open Water is worth it!
