Call me an idealist, but I like to think Jackie is beating the crap out of all those guys for a reason. Hence, the need for a premise.
On another topic altogether, I've observed that the audience at a Jackie Chan flick is almost entirely male. Is this a guy thing, like the three stooges?
To bring this free-association full circle, let me say that although I enjoy Jackie Chan movies, I've never liked the Three Stooges, possibly because they don't have a real reason for beating the crap out of each other. Maybe they need a premise.
