McDonald's Headquarters (UPI)--
Today, in what has become the inevitable in the entertainment industry, McDonald's Spokesperson Holden McCrotch announced the merchandising tie-ins associated with the upcoming "McDonald's Millennium" movie project.
Along with the obvious McDonald's fast-food/movie discounts, are the unexpected promotions, such as:
*the artist Christo's wrapping the entire Indian sub-continent with a giant McDonald's wrapper reading, "Holy-Cow, I love the new McDonald's movie!"
*the launching of McTV, a new 24-hr cable channel devoted solely to McDonald's television programming
*the pairing of McDonald's with Microsoft's Internet Explorer, allowing internet users to order delivery of McDonald's food from the convenience of their desktops. An easy to use Big Mac short-cut icon will become available with Windows 98's first upgrade.
*the distribution of temporary "Golden Arches" tattoos among Hollywood's elite for wear during the '99 Academy Awards.
*the creation of Ronald Records, specializing in the presentation of new breakout Gangsta Rappers in an effort to appeal to urban youth--long seen as a core marketing group.
