10/29/1998: You read it here first: REVIEW JOHN CARPENDER"S VAMPIRES

Posted By: Mystery_Man

Sorry, about the delay for my Vampire review. Here is the load down of this film.

Contains some Minor Spoilers

Vampires isn't a bad film but in return isn't a very good film either. However, I may lean more to the good than the bad. Vampires contains about the same level of gore as Blade. However, I found John Carpender's Vampires to be more funny than scary. Actually, I did not find this movie to be scary at all. The vampires do not really jump out and scare you like you would expect. James Woods is fun to watch in this movie. I liked him a lot better than the wodden Westly Snipes in Blade. Woods has some funny one-liners and is just plain cool in this movie. I liked his character a lot. The plot is similar to other Vampire tales. Woods and his team are on a journey to kill vampires. The vampires themselves look like any other vampires except they love to kill. Lots of strippers, priests, and so on get their heads cut off. The special effects are not that good but considering James Woods and Danial Baldwin get top billing, I suspect this movie's budget wasn't too high. Overall, I give Vampires a marginal thumbs up. A fun movie to watch but overall it isn't that great under the surface.
