I work in a very very very busy office...I'm usually the only one answering the phones and can barely stay on top of just keeping up with calls from customers. Most of these telemarketers will not back off unless you ARE rude to them, and I've dealt with them long enough at my job to know that nothing short of, "We don't want your services, EVER, so get lost," will get through to them. It's gotten to the point where my boss is telling us to just tell them ALL to put us on their No-Call lists because they're making us miss calls from customers.
And the walk-in solicitors...they're even worse. We have signs on BOTH doors that clearly say "SOLICITING PROHIBITED", yet they walk in anyway. And, when I tell them that they're not allowed on the property, they DENY they're trying to sell us anything, yet then proceed on to describe what they're selling. One particularly persistent solicitor had to actually have the cops called on him before he finally left.
*will scream if she hears the sentence "May I speak with the person who handles your telecommunications?" again*
