08/15/01: I saw "Planet of the Apes" for the second time, tonite.. (spoilers)

..i intended to see "Jurassic Park III", but the group of people i went with weren't all interested in that one...

Some random things that stood out upon a second viewing:

The mushroom cloud of raining Monkeys is a visual for the ages. I don't think i could EVER watch that and not crack up.

This was most definitely a Tim Burton movie. I'm not sure why it is that so many people state, in their reviews, that it's not a traditional Burton flick. It SCREAMS Burton.

Tim Roth was amazing.

The whole trend that seemed to begin with "Star Wars: Episode I", where a new movie is shown in 4 theatres, with one showing of said-movie beginning every hour, from 11 am to midnight, is the real reason behind the Incredible first weekend box-office gross-followed-by-a-fifty-percent decline the following weekend-syndrome that seems to be plaguing this year's summer movies..

Mark Wahlberg works for me, in this movie. I've heard alot of complaints about him not being able to play "The Hero".. I don't think that the character WAS a hero. He was just a guy trying to get back to his ship.

I noticed the second moon, this time around, which seems to put doubt into my original thinking that this planet really was the Earth. STILL, though, there is the slight possibility that Wahlberg went back in time to a point where the Earth DID have 2 moons (there are a couple scientific theories about that, i think)..

I really have to avoid Estella Warren-films, in the future. The girl could be the freakin'-twin of my infamous Psycho-girlfriend. Everytime i see her, all i can think of is ineffectual blowjobs....(that one's a for you, MEB :)
