Major SPOILERS. With that said, I believe Grace is still living. She's in a place that no religion deals with. Living people who should not be. You are all assuming dead means no heartbeat. Like grace said, imagine being in Pergatory, but the other way around. You are still very much alive in a physical sense, but with no soul. She's stuck with a physical body in a plane that living people with souls can't see. She is forever damned to hang with the ghosts that know they're dead(no heartbeat), without the morbid satisfaction of knowing she actually died. She fired two blasts from the shotgun outside. When she went to kill herself, there were no shells left. She was tormented the moment she stepped foot in the house, and the ghosts were driving her "mad" the whole time her husband was gone. She is now accepting of the notion, that the dead and living must sometimes live together. She's a living person in the world of the dead. She knows that she killed her kids, and then tried to kill herself, so her spirit is already dead, although her heart keeps beating. She is the opposite of the "Virgin Mary" a living person who was born without sin. Anna can't face "The Virgin" Get it? Turco
