I read Veruca's original post about Juliette Lewis' "bad hair life" (ha ha... sorry, I couldn't resist!) in "The Other Sister". And I HAD to comment... Veruca, you really hit the bullseye on this one! I have NOT seen "The Other Sister", so I'm just relying on what I saw in the TV ads, BUT...
Just because Juliette Lewis' character is supposed to be mildly-retarded DID NOT mean that they HAD TO give her the WORST hairdo in the history of Western Civilization!!!
And I do know this from first-hand experience. My girlfriend is a nursing-home-administrator for homes for "developmentally-disabled" (mentally-retarded) adults... And the people who live there DO NOT have that kind of "who cares what it looks like, just cut it" hairdo.
In fact, in one facility, there's a framed display of "glamour" photographs of all of the people... all dressed up in their Sunday best, hair and makeup done perfectly, etc... and if you didn't know the people (just by the pictures), you'd think that every last one of them was NOT impaired in any way!!!
So when I read that post, I had to say that Veruca's post couldn't have been more accurate. Oh, well. Thanks for letting me vent...
