I didn't think the 1970 version was that bad. At least there was a lot going on. One line I liked came in a scene where the couple were in the back seat of a police car, the police got out to investigate a burglary, and the burglars drove off in the car! (I guess New York cops are dumb enough to leave their keys in the car. That cliche occurs in movies as good as BRINGING UP BABY--about five times--and NORTH BY NORTHWEST.) Anyway, one of the crooks picks up the two-way radio thing and says: "Hello, police? This is the butler!"
