"out there (even atheist ones) who would be with me in arguing that the Sistene Chapel Ceiling is a far better work of art than a photograph of a crucifix in a toilet."
Eh, that depends on what the artist is trying to say.
I could go along with both statements, since they are (contextually) true.
As for funniest movie ever, that also depends on context. I suppose if Rowan Atkinson ditched the "Mr. Bean" crap and actually made a "Black Adder" flick, that would rate among the top 10... or at least top 100. Then again, I laughed like crazy during the third Freddy Kruger flick, it was that awful.
All the movies you mentioned as more likely the possibilities of funniest movie ever, each had their say. They all had one thing in common: they were funny because they were, in some way, true. I would "M*A*S*H" on the list (yes, it came out as a movie BEFORE the serial), and maybe "Beetlejuice" would fit somewhere in the top 250.
Frankly, with all this competition history can show us, I don't see how "Meet the Spartans" or "Scary Movie" would ever make the top 500, much less the top 250, of funniest movies of ANY time.
