Scariness: The Original Ring (American Version) was scarier because you didn't expect Samara or knew about her much. This movie redemption is through the use of usual scare tactics, but there are a couple of original scare sequences used.
Creepy little kid factor: He's creepier, but does it on purpose rather naturally doing it like in the first one. He is aging, so if they're going to make the final Ring film they better do it very soon.
Samara: In the first movie, all she did was kill people on random. In this movie she wants Rachel to be her mother. There are some inconsistencies and plotholes that give me a headache, you'll see them in reference to how Samara goes around and kills people.
Official John Doe rating: ** out of ****.
