My reasoning is as follows:
. . o Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegitative state. All but a few fringe medicos agree with this diagnosis.
. . o Her parents and her brother would desperately like to see her continue to live. A lot of other people, most of whom are perfect strangers, would also like to see her continue to live.
. . o I don't believe there's enough brain function left in Terri Schaivo for be conscious of anything, including pain and suffering.
. . o Terri told her husband that she didn't want to be kept alive by extraordinary means. I think that had she considered the current circumstances, that the only pain and suffering is the mental anguish her parents and siblings are going through. Since Terri is essentially an empty shell, what harm does it do anyone to keep her alive?
. . o The cost of keeping her alive can easily be born by those advocation her being kept alive.
. . o Michael Schaivo needs to back off and leave Terri in the care of her parents and siblings. The person he once know as his wife no longer exists and is way beyond suffering. Why cause pain to Terri's family?
