1. Have you finished your taxes yet?
Yes. Although I haven't sent them yet. Truth be told, I've actually been too lazy to staple my W2s to my tax forms since Sunday. Yeah, I'm that lazy.
2. How much did you have to pay/get back?
Between the two of us about $1300.
3. Did you do them yourself or hire a professional?
Myself and a non-scientific calculator. Same way I've done thing since I started paying taxes.
4. What kind of deductions did you claim?
Interest on the house and personal property taxes which were much, MUCH greater than the standard deduction. Some charitable contributions.
5. How many deductions did you fudge?
None.
6. Would you rather pay your taxes or go to the dentist?
Pay taxes. I don't know this dread of taxes.
7. Are your taxes too complicated?
No. State and federal took about 2 hours combined. And a lot of that was filling out the Schedule D.
8. Would you be willing to give up deductions to make the tax code simpler?
No.
9. Are your taxes unfair?
No.
10. What, if anything, should we change about the tax system?
I don't know enough about the tax code to even begin to answer this. Maybe I lead a simple life, but taxes seem pretty easy and straightforward to me.
