The movie had universal messages about freedom and sacrifice. The message would have been the same if it had been a group of British soldier or French Resistance fighters. I could go on to massage the collective egos of everyone of differing nationalities but it would be pointless. The message of the movie was that people have died so you can live and in accordance with this you should make your life worthwhile. Private Ryan is the symbol for all of us. Miller and his squad are the men who died so we may live. The "evil" German symbolizes the fact that war is infact at times unavoidable. There are bad people. If you cannot comprehend the symbolism go read Dr. Seusse. His fine children's books would be more suitable for your rudimentary reasoning skills. Why all the violence? Was it to sell tickets? No, it was there to show how harsh war is. If everybody died with no blood, like they did in movies in the 40's and 50's, nobody would appreciate the sacrifice all soldiers make. Let us compare movies about D-Day to illustrate this point. Which was more truthful and inquisitive? "The Longest Day" a charming action movie chock full of American movie stars. or "Saving Private Ryan" a poingant and grisly epic depicting the hell of war in an effor to make us appreciate what we are given.

P.S. If you are a nationalistic, ignorant waste of human genetic material please don't even respond to this post. I don't care what you think about how your country saved the world. Good people, not countries, save the world.
