"And in what way does the right to own a gun imply the right to get one at a moment's notice, without registration?"

For the same reason that the right to free speech means that you can say whatever you want, whenever you want, without reguistration.

The wording of the first amendment and the wording of the second amenbdment are very similar to each other. In both cases, the government is not allowed to restrict people's freedoms.

Australia recently had massive gun confiscation. It was made possible largely because of gun registration. Of course, the supporters of gun registration claimed that the registration records would never be used for confiscation. Obviously, they lied.

Sometimes a person needs to get a gun right away. Like if a riot breaks out, a store owner might want to buy a gun right away to protect his property. Or if a woman is trying to protect herself from her abusive ex-husband, she might need a gun right away.

Vermont has no gun control. Anyne can own a gun, and you don't need a permit. Vermont has the second lowest murder rate in the U.S. The murder rate in Vermont is lower than the murder rate in Japan.

"Why doesn't
the NRA work with the government for sensible gun laws, instead of fighting every attempt tooth and nail?"

Well, it's probably for the same reason that homosexuals don't try to "work with the government" for "sensible laws" to try to "regulate homosexual sex to try to reduce the spread of AIDS."
