convenor thinks that if one person who belongs to this group commits a violent crime, then that means that all people who belong to this group are violent criminals. That is the very definition of bigotry.
convenor is against racial profiling of blacks, and I agree with convenor on this point. But he is in favor of profiling when it comes to gun owners, and I disagree with him on that.
Also, in the USA we have a concept called "innocent until proven guilty." The vast majority of gun owners have never used their gun to commit a crime.
In fact, I once read an article that said that the average police officer is more likely than the average private citizen gun owner to use his gun to harm an innocent person. The fact is that the vast majority of private citizen gun owners behave 100% totally responsibly with their guns, and there is no reason why these poeople shold be punished.
It's a shame that convenor takes the actions of one irresponsible person, and uses it to label an entire group of people. How sad. Bigotry is a sign of ignorance. Perhaps someday convenor will become mature enough to outgrow his bigotry.
