10/14/02: Ten more conservative idiots!

It must be Monday! The URL is:

1. George W. Bush. Now that he's got that authorization from Congress he's been after for the last six weeks, what is Boy George going to do? Why, go campaignin' of course! That's right, for the next three weeks, it'll be nothing but campaign stops for Republican candidates paid for by you and me, the American taxpayers. Meanwhile, Saddam Hussein, whom Boy George has likened to Hitler and Stalin, remains in power in Iraq. Gassed his own people (with chemicals sold to him by Bush family friends and operatives). Might have nu-cu-lar weapons (courtesy ditto).

2. Bill Simon. Is there a more pathetic candidate in the United States? Last week, Dollar Bill had the breathless announcement that Gray Davis had <gasp!> accepted a campaign contribution in his lieutentant governor's office at the State Capitol back in 1998. He had photographic proof and everything. Unfortunately for Simon, it turned out his evidence was every bit as believable as the photographic evidence the corrupt Bush administration had for the "trashing" of the White House -- the picture turned out to be from a fund-raiser in a private home. 100% legal, Bill. Ooops! Doubly unfortunately for Simon, he doesn't have the pull with the press corps that the White House uses ruthlessly, and the story of his lie got out and was repeated time and again. Then (trifecta!), Simon tried to weasel out of the lie and the controversy he had concocted by trying to blame the California Organization of Police and Sheriffs, who had fed him the picture. I'll have to check with Mendo, but I believe three time losers in California are eligible for life imprisonment. That would be a charitable fate for Mr. Simon.

6. Mike Taylor. Okay, I thought my question about Simon as the most pathetic candidate in the U.S. was rhetorical; Mike Taylor, Republican running for the Senate in Montana, took me seriously. When the Democrats began running an ad using footage from Taylor's previous career as a hair- dresser and beauty school proprietor, Crybaby Mike turned tail and ran wailing. What he was wailing, though, is what puts him in Simon's category for pathetic. The ad was about how Crybaby Mike had scammed the government out of over $150,000 in bogus student loans; Crybaby said the ads made him look gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but for poor Crybaby Mike, the mere intimation that he might swing from the other side of the plate would require "millions of dollars" to counteract. So, rather than stand up for the honorable profession of hair styling, Crybaby Mike quit the campaign, and is considering running to the courthouse to sue for libel. Or for definition of character, it's hard to tell.

Go to the web page and enjoy another edition of conservative idiocy before Crisco Johnny Ashcroft decides it violates the USA PATRIOT Act or something.
