Hmmm...I thought that the 2 worked together well in "Pushing Tin," even if the film itself was kind of uneven. This sounds a bit like Thornton' previous "A Simple Plan." I don't know about Harold Ramis as a director, though. He made the best romantic comedy of all time with "Groundhog Day," (which incidentally is being remade in Italy), but followed that 1993 film other with a string of garbage:
