Considering the terrain we're asking our soldiers to negotiate isn't exactly paved for our tanks and troop carriers, .50-caliber rifles might turn out to be remarkably useful weapons. A relatively small band of snipers on the high ground could prove to be remarkably difficult to dislodge. How many body bags do you want to see coming back from Afghanistan, Wulfgar, before the cost/benefit of unrestricted gun sales starts to seem like a bad idea?
