If you put soldiers in on the ground, a goodly number of them are coming back in body bags, regardless of whether they were killed by LAWs, .50 cal. rifles, AK-47s, poison gas, tanks, landslides, pungee sticks, botulism or heatstroke.
The known number of .50 cals in bin Laden's hands are low; while there may be more out there (rank speculation *at best*), they probably have more *flintlocks* than .50 cals.
