The Australian census was held a couple of months ago and the theory was that if enough people wrote "Jedi" on their form, the Government would be obliged to recognise it as an official religion (whatever THAT means). I forget what the figure was - it might have been a couple of hundred thousand people or something similar - that it would take to get it over the line.
Further, I suspect that the forms are still being analysed and I've certainly heard nothing about any fines being issued. And since the fine for not voting is a paltry $50, I'm fairly sure that filling in one item on your census form "incorrectly" isn't going to attract a fine of $1,000!!
