11/23/96: T-Boy, about that dying off....

I must tell you that it took me a couple years to decide to have a kid. I was fighting the "nesting" urge that hits some woman at a certain age as that clock is ticking, so to speak. (Then it took a year for me to "catch" but that's a whole 'nother story!) I weighed the balance, 0 population growth, the violence, the destruction of world resources, etc, etc, and then made a decision to have a child. My reasoning was this. Perhaps I can teach my child to respect the earth, and in that way, I can help to repair, save, and let it continue. Unless we teach our children to fight for the planet, to stand up against the corporate greed of pollution, and to fix the mistakes that have been made and are being made, it won't matter whether we're here or not, the damage will be done and nothing will survive. Just a thought.
