11/17/96: Hmmm, a serious discussion?

In Australia at the moment - as far as I have seen - little school children like my sister are being taught to be the champions of multiculuralism but to hate their own white heritage. If you're anglo-saxon, you're bad - VERY bad. Afterall, look what we've done to the Aboriginal peoples. It doesn't matter that WE personally didn't do all the ravagind killing, our ancestors did - so we can still take the blame.

Now you may agree with this but I do not. I think we have to collectively 'get over it', say 'we're sorry' and go about doing positive things such as the Mabo legistation and the vast support for Aboriginal Arts.

Australia is a great place to be anyone who isn't white. Except for Pauline Hanson and a vile minority - we all like our immigrants. Even us evil anglo-saxons are immigrants!

How this is relevant. Race relations are touchy everywhere. I think that sensitive whites in America as in Australia, are very aware of anything that might be offensive. If the black film is doing badly - some will feel guilty, they hope it isn't taken as a sing of racism.

Personally, a planet where films fail because they just aren't very good and no one even questions if it has something to do with the race of those involved would be very nice indeed.

Can you see my point? I'm a little confused this morning. Thank you for reading.

CHooKERS - q.
