02/01/01: Can someone explain why Einstein was made "man of the century"?

Not that anyone takes Time magazine as a serious journal. Time once portrayed Margaret Thatcher as wo-man of the year -- a PM who has perhaps done more to damage Britain's economic nd social structure than any other. But then, they were probably being politically correct -- Britain's first woman PM and all that.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't this particular physicist -- I'm talking about Einstein again -- help to develop the Bomb? Oh, now it is all clear to me.

Personally, I would have voted for someone more like Winston Churchill, who for a considerable time stood alone against Nazi aggression. Rather than helping to introduce a world-destroying weapon, he helped to save it.

Then again, he was not an American, so he would be automaticaly disqualified. No doubt the Jewish publishers also had a role in Time's unfathomable choice. If it had to be an American, why not Martin Luther King?
