The word stranglehold certainly implies a conspiracy. But there is no Jewish or Democrat stranglehold on the media. On the other hand it was kind of amusing how liberals and Democrats flipped out when Rush Limbaugh got so big so fast with his syndicated talk radio show. The nerve of the fellow! How dare he speak openly about Republican issues in the USA! Liberals accused Rush of engaging in hate speech. Well in all the times I heard him on the radio and on TV the only thing he said that sounded a little like hate speech were his tirades on the Clintons. Well so what? The Clintons are politicians and as such are going to be subject to mountains of criticism.
The real stranglehold on the media that is worrisome, is the big media conglomerates like Time-Warner and Disney etc. If they keep combining into ever larger conglomerates we may indeed see something like an oligarchy or even a monopoly of the main stream media.
