A "stranglehold" is a force or influence that chokes or suppresses freedom of movement or expression. This does not require a conspiracy; nor need it imply one.
If the media is dominated by a particular group with the same biased mindset, one might very well call this a stranglehold, since it can exert a controlling influence. In terms of the media, this control is over what information we receive.
As the 60 Minutes statistics seem to support (see Hanging On forum for link), the entertainment media in America is clearly dominated by Jews. Have a look at the link to Ben Stein's dubious column on the "Brandon scandal" (same forum) where he questions why it should matter if Hollywood is dominated by Jews. Well, for one thing, the obvious disparity of Jews in Hollywood would seem to indicate nepotism; the quality of Hollywood films does not support the argument that they owe their jobs to talent. And to argue that Jews are more talented than most is in itself a form of racism. Ben Stein's unbalanced article is in itself an argument for "Jewcentrism" in the press.
As for the news media, I would not say that Jewish control is not quite as encompassing, though I have seen unbalanced reporting from many a Jewish reporter/editor on the Arab-Israeil crisis. I don't believe this is just a coincidence of unprofessional reporting.
I have even seen Jewcentric journalism from the once proud BBC. One program called "Hard Talk", hosted by one Jew called Tim Sebastian is a point in case. It is supposed to be a series of themeless one-to-one interviews, but almost every guest is ann ex- nazi hunter, or a Jewish intellectual or artist or successful businessman (whom I've never heard of), or a Holocaust victim, or an evil neo-nazi historian. When he interviewed one of the Palestinian negotiators engaged in the current Arab-Israeli crisis, his bias was particularly obvious. He ignored all of his guest's pertinant points and harrangued him throughout the entire interview as if it was his side that had ejected a whole population from its rightful lands. In fact, he grew quite irrate, as well as irrational. However, when he interviews Jews, he turns into a loathsome flatterer.
