Greetings Theodoric and others...
My...my...my... a Democratic governor standing up to Republican pols... I may argue that the creation of election monitoring teams should be an open process, but then again, the Repubs will argue against monitoring anyway... So the Governor was right anyway.
Heck, the mere fact that the Penn. elections are monitored would assure that Repubs and Demos would be elected fairly. In other words, the Republican Party do benefit from the monitoring.
My favorite part: [Governor] Rendell became agitated when asked by a reporter yesterday if he would comply with the GOP's demand to eliminate the monitors.
"Are you kidding?" he snapped. "If I changed my decisions based on letters from Republican leaders, I would make no decisions. If I decided to declare that today is Wednesday, it could generate a letter from the Republican leadership asking me to reverse that decision. We have to do what we believe is best."
So, go Rendell. I think that Grundle will have to agree with Rendell for once on election monitoring...
