I wouldn't dream of arguing with the people who didn't like the movie. Some people take it personally that real high- schoolers don't dress like they do in the teen movies of the late 90s and in this new millenium. I couldn't care less. And some people hate the hip dialogue, or the fact that every single teen movie out now 'has to have' hip dialogue to be pushed into production. I still don't care.
But, 'She's All That' was a good movie. Not a great movie. But it had some interesting moments of irony, a funny parody of 'The Real World' (take it from someone who's seen nearly every episode of every season up until they went back to New York for the 10th season, which I DID NOT stick around for), and the romance was sweet without the ultra- cliched scene where the girl really has it out with the guy that she was all 'a bet'.
There's something SO satisfying about the fact that those words are spoken in silence and through the actions of the characters instead of another played-out scene of conflict where one doesn't need to take place.
Add to that the fact that Lil' Kim is in the movie but doesn't have any real lines (appropriate usage of her 'celebrity' status), and that Freddie Prinze Jr. finally plays somebody normal. He's not a doormat or a superstud, the girls of the school don't fall all over him, he dresses somewhat human in his 'downtime'. He reminds me of one of my best friends.
And Freddy IS hott. That 'graduation' sequence may have been TOO short, but it was still sweet.
