Sicko Mr. Cranky's rating:
The American health care system helps some people. Heck, it helps a lot of people. In fact, I bet it has helped a whole lot more people than Jesus ever did. Therefore, it must be working pretty damn well. Michael Moore is on another of his anti-American rants. Why does Moore hate America? I mean, c'mon, every, single one of his movies has been about how America is a bad place. If it's so bad, why doesn't he move? Moore's purpose with this "documentary" is to compare America's health care system with health care systems in Canada, England, France, and even Cuba. Really, I was surprised he just didn't end up staying in Cuba. I'm sure Communism would suit him fine. Moore's conclusion in examining America's health care system is that it sucks. Basically, he takes all the worst-case scenarios he can find in the United States and then compares them to all the best-case scenarios in all these other countries. Imagine if you did a documentary on poverty and you found all the poorest people in America and then compared their situation to the most well-off people in, say, Afghanistan. I guarantee you the poor people would all universally say they'd rather live in Afghanistan. Moore doesn't seem to understand that America is about free enterprise. It is the model for Capitalism. That means that everything we do in this country is for a profit. His argument that we'd be better off with a state-run health care system is fundamentally anti-American. It's our core belief as Americans that virtually every business should be for profit. Doctors and insurance companies are no different. It's simply a fact that in order to make money, insurance companies must deny care to some people. That Moore happened to find the six people who got denied health care doesn't mean that the system is broken. What about the six million who did get their care? When such situations arise, I always ask myself this question: "What would Jesus do?" I know that Jesus helped the poor, but he simply didn't have the time to help everyone. That's sort of how the American health care system works. It works like Jesus. Jesus helped some people. The American health care system helps some people. Heck, it helps a lot of people. In fact, I bet it has helped a whole lot more people than Jesus ever did. Therefore, it must be working pretty damn well.
Was it really that bad?
