07/02/07: TRUE LIFE SOCIALIZED MEDICINE ADVENTURE!

Posted by: jwilson07

My mother was from wonderful Australia. Came here after WW2 and married my dad. She still had lots of friends and family back home-down unda. Anyhoo she was 77 years old and decides to go into an independent living elderly care facility. Picked from 6 different homes here in the city, liked one, wrote a check for 1600 dollars(first months rent including food, about average for sunny california) and moved right in. Lived there for two years, liked the place, and then passed away. Natural causes. Meanwhile her friends back home(Australia) pay NOTHING for a place like that. ZERO COST, FREE, NOT COSTING YOU A DAMN DIME. One small catch though.....5 year waiting list to get in. 5 years. She would have died waiting for a room. The moral is " YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR". Free medical is worth exactly what you pay for it. Get in line and wait comrade.....
