The problem is not all the would-be-bombers/murderers are obvious. Just like all serial killers, rapists, etc are obivous. That Islam is viewed as breeding ground for fanatical killers isn't surprising. If serial killers were more likely to be say, methodists, I can guarantee that methodists would be held in suspicion. Let's just look the good ol' U.S. of A., Tim McVeigh is caught and suddenly those redneck "militias" are the boogeyman, even subject to use as Hollywood villains (because they are right-wing white males, it's not stereotyping in the eyes of hatefully hypocritcal Hollywood). That's since died down of course.
Still, I have to wonder how Indonesian muslims can decry Zionism with any legitimacy? Must've been all those islands that Israel occupied after Indonesia invaded them. Sympathy for their muslim brothers? Well, when was the last time a christian leader decried jihadist muslims? They would've been scolded as being prejudiced. Why does the media give the absurd bigotry of the Islamic world mostly a free pass? Sure they mention Iran's holocaust deniers meeting (sadly, a few jews attended that...not to protest, either), but imagine an equally ridiculous "slavery denial meeting" by racist whites in the USA. It would be declared the evilist thing in the known universe.
