...What about "Misery" and "The Shawshank Redemption" being faithful reproductions? Or, on the small screen, "The Stand"? I'd think that "Misery" was more faithful a transition than was "Carrie". At least "Misery" didn't have that painful stereotypical "surprise" ending where the protagonist somehow comes back to life...
