08/29/1999: Re: What the hell was so funny about it?

You're right, there was literally nothing funny about this sequel...and very little funny about the original. I mean, it's neat, doing a take-off on the typical English swinging secret agent from the 60's, but do we really need one? All we need to do is pop an Avengers episode into the VCR and see the real thing! Michael Myers is an inspired comedian, and I really love his Austin Powers when he's hosting an MTV show, for example...but in a movie that runs almost two hours? I think not. And who ever gave him the idea that Dr. Evil was hilarious? Dull and boring. I'd rather watch paint peel. Or Emma Peel, take your pick.
