11/05/1999: Re: Why "don't go see it" doesn't work

Uh ... "if you don't like it, don't go see it" doesn't make any sense. By the time you know you don't like it, you've ALREADY seen it, and are entitled to be ticked off because you wasted seven dollars and two hours.

It is entirely possible that by avoiding this movie I am doing it a disservice.

It is possible that the wretched, talentless fumblings that Mike Myers has failed to pass off as comedy in the past were merely a warmup, and that in this movie he rises to new heights of comedic genius.

It is possible that all of the witless drivel I've heard quoted from this film is uncharacteristic, and that the remainder of it is jam-packed with great gags that make Monty Python look like the MacNeil-Lehrer Hour.

And it's possible that the agonizingly unfunny clips that were shown in the television commercials, and the equally torturrific moments when Myers appeared as Powers in other media outlets to promote this fiendery, are also totally uncharacteristic and the rest of the movie is a sublime festival of funny, a mountainous mound of merriment and a jokulhaups of jocularity.

But I'm not betting seven dollars on it. ^_^
