I think you've lost your mind. This movie was not only the best sci-fi film of all time, but it also is the reason why we even have a Matrix, Dune, etc. In fact, it was such a significant step in movie history that colleges and universities teach it as the pivotal turning point in digital technology for film. You must have seen the movie ten years later when it came out on VHS or something because if you had seen it in the theater when it was released, you would have been addicted to it.
