I was in the record store looking for Richard Ashcroft's solo effort (out of stock) when I found a gem in the used bins: PURE POP: 16 Hot Hits from the 1970s. They're all here. "Hitchin' a Ride," "Ride Captain Ride," even "The Night Chicago Died." Just don't make music like that anymore. And I was a fetus when most of these charted. Album brings back memories of THE VIRGIN SUICIDES.
