How about how ANYONE, Federation crew or alien, knows how to use just about any alien technology ar once? Aliens on the Federation ships can just step up to consoles and run the ships systems just as well as the crew can, and the Federation people can do they same thing when presented with the controls to an alien ship. Hardly ever do they have instances where differences in language, culture, and technology prevent such easy use by non-natives.
