I am honest enough to say, "I don't know."
I see the arguments on both sides of the question, but I tend to lean still in favor of sealing such records, for why saddle a young person who makes one stupid mistake in his or her life with that mistake for the rest of his or her life?
For every Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, there are almost certainly hundreds of juvenile offenders who have learned from their mistakes and avoid making similar mistakes in future.
I note, however, that my real complaint here is with those who post incomplete and skewed scenarios without addressing the full factual context of those scenarios just to make a point that need not be made and that is not supported by the actual case they cite.
