I think it was the character that made Michael a bad actor in this movie, because think about it, he's gotta be a little stiff if hes supposedly survived all these years from these robots who have managed to wipe out humans entirely except for a handful. I don't think someone like that could afford to be too emotional with people he knows dying all the time.
