#1 I'm in LA, doin' are very rare visit to where I grew up; Weird scene - my Mom died, funeral, etc. - after all the bullshit I'm kicking back on a Sunday night, smoking herb and sipping brews... my super duper cool nephew Robbie sez:
"Uncle Tommy, there's a movie on cable tonight you outta watch, it's called 'The Terminator'... you really, really should watch it..."
after telling him 50 reasons why I don't watch "those kind of movies" he sez, "Uncle Tommy, this ain't one of "those kind of movies", 'cuz there hasn't ever been one of these kind of movies before... tell you what... watch the first 5 minutes; if you don't like it, go to bed..."
as they say, well, they say something, but the crow I ate was worth it... all time fine fucking film... from the first frame to the last...
fast forward to 1991
I'm helping run the good ole' Point Arena Theater, 'house manager', and have to INSIST that they show "T2" 'cuz "We don't show that kind of movie" (lol, karma, 'eh?) The movie is the top grosser we'd had to that point, and even though I liked the first one better, I loved it... and it was the "Art House" types who I had to convince to show it turn to eat crow...
