Has anybody said that yet?
Okay, I'm insulting ALIEN 3 a bit by that comparison. Though I've been harshly critical of said film, ALIEN 3 at least had style, directing and good performances. But both Alien 3 and T3 ass-raped the James Cameron films that came before them.
Sarah Connor = Hicks (good characters killed off screen (i knew when I saw a coffin in the trailers that Sarah was dead).
Skynet Unstoppable = Alien inescapable (it's never esplained why Skynet hates humanity)
Judgement Day ending = Ripley's final sacrifice (Such fatalism)
military/defense contractors built the first terminators = human corporation wants the aliens for military/commericial reasons (humans breeding killing machines that will turn on them....applies more to ALIEN RESURRECTION)
Here's a peice of advice to any director: NEVER MAKE A SEQUEL TO A JAMES CAMERON MOVIE!
T3 joins ALIEN RESURRECTION, Robo-Cop 3, and any Planet of the Apes movie made after "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" in the "Unnecessary Sequels that Ruined the Series" category. Their mere existence brings down the films that came before them. It's like "Hey, T2 was awesome!", but then you can't help but recall the lackluster downer that was T3. Just leaves a bad taste in yer mouth.
That said, I more or less enjoyed T3 as an action film. As part of the series, it sucked ass for plenty of reasons. (See Nick's dead-on comments below).
