Welllll...not exactly. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is loosely based on the antics of Ed Gein, who wasn't even from Texas. When the police went to question him about some murders, they found body parts in the kitchen, heads in the fridge, and a mask made out of a human face...hence Leatherface's name. It is still creepy, though.
