America doesn't know how to make Horror Movies any more. They're all lame, cookie cutter spectacles of pointless violence. Look to other countries for real movies of Horror, Suspence and Terrifying Gore. Personally, I recommend "The Devil's Backbone" from Mexico for a real scary, shocking horror film. Human monstrousness competes with Supernatural vengeance in this tale of an orphanage housed in an old Spanish Mission, set during the Mexican Civil War. Cruel Rebel Soldiers terrorize the Republican- Sympathetic Priest who runs the orphanage, and the children. Shocking footage of innocent children falling to violence spawned by conflicts of politics; all set against the backdrop of an old, unsolved murder coming back to haunt the seemingly respectable murderer. 21st Century special effects, set against a story which relies on storytelling to provide the Horror; not gratuitous amounts of violence and gore.
