I'm not even going to pretend that I understand how this scene was shot (literally) -- I suppose I'll watch the movie from the beginning when I finally get around to seeing the rest of it (my screening ended half way through thanks to a crappy projectionist), just to see if I can figure that out. I mean, it's a freakin' continuous shot -- I'm guessing a fairly small camera was used and put on a boom, but ANYWAY, so I don't spoil this brilliance any further, I'll just shut up, but conclude with: MY ENTIRE AUDIENCE STOOD UP AND APPLAUDED AT THE END OF THIS SCENE. That's how incredible it is. (Although it is, as one of my peers declared, "the most artistically sick thing I've seen in a long, long time.")
What's #1 for the year? Still the deputy scene in "House of 1000 Corpses." It almost caused ME to walk out of the theater, it caused my skin to crawl so much. It's worth the rental for that scene alone (I failed the movie otherwise).
The "irony" of these two scenes being #1 and #2? "House of 1000 Corpses" is not much more than a rip-off of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
